Just six kilometres from the shores of majestic Lake Huron and less than an hour’s drive from London, you’ll find the Village of Zurich, home to the famous Zurich Bean Festival which happens every year on the fourth Saturday in August!
This lovely town on Ontario’s West Coast was founded in 1856, and is known for its Swiss heritage which is reflected in the attractive local architecture. A perfect example of this is the Hessenland Inn which is found just on the outskirts of town and offers up delicious meals, elegant rooms, and access to the lake, as well as their own wine!
While in town, a “must do” is to visit Jerry Rader Homestyle Market. You’ll enjoy the freshly made homestyle food and baked goods, not to mention their amazing boutique where you can find that perfect gift! Then make sure to check out the Hess Clock, one of only three “Canadiana Tower Clocks” in Canada still operating as it was designed to run! While roaming along Main Street, you may find hidden treasures in Blessings Community Store, or perhaps your feet will take you into the beautiful new Public Library. If you plan to visit during the end of July, you won’t want to miss the Zurich Country Fair. And to find many more gems during your stopover, the Heritage Tour is a handy tool to use!
