The ‘brain child’ of construction workers Phil and Dave, this fittingly named brewery was hammered together in 2016 during a conversation while on (you guessed it!) a job site. Craftsmen in construction as well as in the art of the brew, they carefully preserved much of the original building material to repurpose during the renovation of their historic building into a brewery, tap room and large events area. Come wet your whistle with the bountiful flavours of their ‘on tap’ cream ale, amber ale, stout and IPA while feasting on a tantalizing, wood fired pizza! Young Charles MacLean loved two things above all else: riding his motorcycle, and drinking beer. These passions took him (with his Norton Commando) to Britain, where he rode and sampled craft beer the length and breadth of the island, until he ran out of funds. A brewery took pity on him, gave him a job, and taught him their ancient trade. When he came home to Hanover, he began a career as one of Ontario’s pioneering independent craft brewers! Today, the taps at Maclean’s Ales flow with malty Scotch Ale, well hopped Indian Pale Ale, creamy Stout, smooth Cherry Porter and more!
